The BioShock opening was difficult to rethink. The melody that Garry Schyman developed was already so beautiful that it felt hard to reimagine. The difficulty composing this piece was that it had to engage you, but not overtake the scene. The background sounds of the video game include a man welding the tube-bridge, a whale, some short-wave radio static, and a conversation between a man and another man, which is important to the first playable scene in the game.
